When your door is open there is a constant beep which is emitted by your car.  If you do any work on the interior and have the door open, this can be a real pain.  In order to fix it you will just need to disconnect one wire.

You will need to get behind the stereo in the dash.   It's not a big deal.  Pry off the surrounding piece of plastic (it's not screwed on, just snapped in).  Remove the four screws holding the "deck unit" to your car. Once those are out, you can pull the stereo bundle forward.  Behind the stereo there should be one and only one blue wire. Cut or disconnect this (your preference). Voila, now when your door is open you no longer have a constant beeping.

When your door is open there is a constant beep which is emitted by your car. If you do any work on the interior and have the door open, this can be a real pain. In order to fix it you will just need to disconnect one wire.

Disconnecting the Harness[edit]

Harness to disconnect
  1. Remove bracket by stereo (using a flat screwdriver)
  2. Unscrew 4 visible screws
  3. Pull stereo straight out in a upwards motion
  4. Now is a good time to document the numbers on the stereo. If you ever disconnect the negative terminal on the battery you will need the numbers to get the security code from a Mitsu dealer to reactive the deck
  5. See pic attached... UNPLUG THE BUZZER in the upper right hand corner of the stereo bay
  6. Put stereo back in place
  7. Rescrew 4 screws
  8. Attach stereo bracket
  9. Put key in ignition.. open door... and relax in the silence
